MASI Casablanca Stock Exchange: how to read the index in context
MASI is the core Moroccan market benchmark, but it should be read with volume, breadth, sectors, and large-cap context.
The index summarizes the market; it does not alone explain which names drove the session or whether the move is broad or concentrated.
Benchmark, not verdict
MASI is a barometer. A positive or negative move should be read with market composition, large-cap weight, and the sectors contributing most to activity.
Market breadth
A session with many advancing stocks sends a different message from one driven by a few large names. The advance-decline ratio helps separate these cases.
Volume and transactions
Volume, turnover, and transaction count show whether the move attracted actual orders. Without activity, an index move can carry less information.

The practical workflow is to move from the index to the contributing stocks, then to filings, news, and fundamentals that explain the context.
